For most women, IVF is a very nerve wracking process. We naturally get asked a lot of questions throughout, and it’s our job here at the clinic is to provide you with as much information as possible so that our clients know it’s not as scary as it may seem.

Q: How will IVF fit in with my day-to-day life?
A: It’s obviously very individual, depending on each person and their situation. When you’re going through the stimulation phase, you often have to have blood tests while you have your scans. Because of this, if you’re working in London, it makes life easier as you can go for your blood tests, come here for a scan and then go straight back to work. It doesn’t have to take over your day. We also have people coming from far away, and so we try to talk things through with them to find their most convenient time to take annual leave. We’re here to make things as simple as possible for you!
Q: What can I do to prepare?
A: My main piece of advice is always stay off of Google! Reading information out of context can do more harm than good. Things like scaremonger stories in the press will only add to the anxiety that you will most probably have during this period, so it’s definitely best to avoid doing this!
Q: How can I manage my stress?
A: The best thing to do is to be as organised as possible. There’s quite a lot of admin involved when you do an IVF cycle, both on our side and on yours. You’ll receive emails which may seem like an overload of information, and so you’ll keep putting it off. But just set yourself an hour aside in the evening, make yourself a to-do list and it’ll become much simpler. What’s more, we can even help you here at the clinic with our complimentary therapies. Q: How will I feel throughout the cycle?
A: Whilst you may have read some horror stories online, the vast majority of people feel fine during the cycle. It is important to remember that each person is different – some people feel worse than others. You may feel bloated or up and down emotionally, but that’s all part of the stress that you’re going through as well. Equally, we have people who feel really great! Either way, getting support from those around you during this time can really help. Our nurses at the clinic are always around and here for you, so feel free to give us a call whenever you need.
