Nutritional Supplement Guide – Breastfeeding
About Pregnancy Nutrition
Good nutrition after giving birth will help your body to heal and rebalance. A healthy diet is the most important foundation, but it’s not always easy to eat as well as you might wish when your baby needs attention or you’re just plain exhausted. The Revital Essence range is specially designed to support your body’s nutritional requirements in the months after having your baby, and these nutrients can be passed on to your baby through your milk if you are breastfeeding. For example, there’s calcium to support the development of bones and teeth, beta carotene to help protect safely against Vitamin A deficiency and cell mutation, and a broad range of anti-oxidants to help support the immune system. Vital DHA provides essential omega 3 fatty acids.
We have specially developed a multivitamin/mineral supplement for post-natal support. Revital Essence will provide, alongside a good diet, the most important micro-nutrients you need during the three to four months it takes your body to return to its pre-pregnant condition. We would also recommend that you boost your intake of Omega 3 DHA which has an important role to play as your baby grows and to replenish your stores which your baby partly takes through breast milk.
Vitamin D is needed for the normal growth and development of bones in children, and if you’re breast feeding, your milk is a crucial source for your baby. Vitamin D also contributes to the normal absorption and utilisation of calcium, which you need to make milk. 1 in 5 adults have low levels of vitamin D. To make sure your level is sufficient we recommend a vitamin D test.
You already know that even though supplements can be help to ensure you get all the nutrients you need, it’s still important to eat a healthy balance diet tailored to your individual needs. But in the weeks and months after you give birth, it can be especially difficult to find the time and energy to cook healthy meals from scratch as well as taking care of a new baby. Our nutritionists can show you how to meet your particular nutritional requirements following birth, support your body through breast feeding, and have a wealth of practical ideas for quick, easy and nutritious meal ideas that will fit in with your new routine.
Consultations last 60 minutes and can be carried out in person or by Skype.
