Reducing Stress & Leaving Work Improved My Chances of IVF Success

We were so pleased to have Lucy, her husband Greg with their baby Max come back to visit us here at Zita West Clinic.

They sat down to tell us all about their treatment with the Zita West clinic, and also the emotional rollercoaster they’ve been through with 3 rounds of IVF and a miscarriage, which led Lucy to becoming very stressed and even having to leave her job.

Lucy says: ‘We got married in 2010 and we tried for six months and didn’t get anywhere. We went to the GP and she wasn’t very helpful, but one of the things she did say was that I was under a lot of stress.’

‘In total, we had three rounds of IVF. The first one was successful, but sadly we had a miscarriage, and so obviously we decided to try again. After the second round of IVF, we decided that although we tried to reduce my stress from work, it wasn’t happening. It was so unbelievably busy and my hours were so we decided the best thing to do was to stop working and throw everything that we could into our third round.’

‘We always budgeted for three rounds and because of my age we didn’t get anything for free. We were paying for it all ourselves, and also mentally we decided that there had to be a limit.”

‘Although it’s been hard, I wouldn’t change it for the world, because it’s been such a loving experience. Being a mum to Max is amazing and wonderful and exhausting and emotional and everything that I hoped it would be and more. It felt like a very long five years, but it makes it feel extra special for us.’
