Hypnotherapy for Fertility
Getting pregnant is not just about having sex at the ‘right’ time or going through the motions of IVF. The mind can have a very powerful influence on the whole process of conception.
Negative thoughts, emotions and behaviours can all lead to increased anxiety and sometimes depression, getting in the way of your goal of conceiving. The hardest thing to hear when you are trying to address fertility issues is, ‘you must remain positive, try not to think about it too much.’
As true as this advice may be, many people need support in reaching a relaxed and optimistic mind-set during what can be one of the most important and stressful times of your life.
Hypnotherapy for fertility by Maureen Kiely
Hypnotherapy is an extremely effective way of accessing the mental state that gives you the power to:
- Reduce stress
- Boost a truly positive mind-set
- Release deep-seated fears and anxieties
- Work through emotional blocks
- “Re-programme” unhelpful habits
Hypnotherapy is the process of inducing hypnosis and then making suggestions to the subconscious part of your mind as a form of therapy. The state of hypnosis is a naturally occurring event during which your body is relaxed and your mind is highly focused. Our team of leading hypnotherapists sees hundreds of clients a year with the sole aim of helping them achieve the best possible mind-set in overcoming their fertility concerns.
What to expect
A typical session of hypnotherapy will begin with you letting the practitioner know a little about yourself, as well as your goals and objectives for the session. If it is your first session, the hypnotherapist will explain how hypnosis works and allay any anxieties. You will then be invited to make yourself comfortable, either sitting or lying on a couch.
The next step is the induction, which is the process of guiding you from normal waking consciousness into the hypnotic state. When you are deeply relaxed, the hypnotherapist may make suggestions, guide you through a visualisation exercise or help to reinforce thoughts of conception to make a positive impact on your subconscious mind. When you are under hypnosis, you are completely in control and aware of your surroundings. After your session, you will feel relaxed, balanced and able to carry on with your day feeling more confident about your experience.
“Hypnotherapy can provide skills and techniques to use on your own, empowering you to access the most positive state of mind possible, whenever you need.” Maureen Kiely
The impact of hypnotherapy is cumulative, so we recommend that you agree on a number of sessions with your practitioner. During the course of your treatment you will be given a set of skills and techniques that you can then use on your own, empowering you to access the most positive state of mind possible, whenever you need.
We use hypnotherapy at the clinic for women who are either trying naturally or who are going through IVF.
What Our Clients Say
I can’t speak highly enough of the Zita West Clinic.
I had only been trying to get pregnant for a few months but it was causing me a lot of anxiety. I saw Zita first and she immediately honed in on this anxiety – she was the perfect blend of empathetic and practical. We talked through all of my worries and she recommended her relaxation CD, which was so helpful.
She also suggested that I see Maureen Kiely; a hypnotherapist who works at the clinic. Maureen was brilliant, she made me feel so comfortable straight away and the hypnotherapy was fantastic. We addressed problems and difficulties from my past, which was invaluable. The hypnosis itself felt amazing, the first time in months that I had had a true break and rest from my chattering mind. She also equipped me with skills to help me relax at home with self-hypnosis techniques.
Trying to get pregnant can be a stressful experience and the holistic, whole body approach of the Zita West Fertility Clinic made me feel supported, comfortable and much less alone. The clinic itself has wonderful staff and I was made to feel at home every step of the way. Thank you!
