Boosting your Chances of Successful IVF
In our view, preparing properly for IVF or other assisted fertility treatments can often be more important and potentially beneficial than if you are trying for a baby naturally.
Embarking down this road can be very demanding and stressful, but we can help you make sure that you are doing everything possible to increase the likelihood of conception. Whether you choose to have your IVF treatment with us or elsewhere, we have years of experience in providing the right physical, nutritional and emotional support, before and during treatment, to help off-set these stresses and strains and to enhance your overall health and well-being. We can keep you positive and in the right mind-set too. All of which can help improve your chances of success.
We usually recommend that clients who are new to the clinic and who are about to start IVF, begin with an Initial Consultation with one of our midwife/fertility nurse specialists. Depending on what has already been done elsewhere, and how advanced your planning is, the session can be used to talk you through the whole IVF process, as well as to provide you and your partner with a comprehensive guide on how to get the most out of your cycle, usually by focussing on one or more of these key areas:
Medical aspects
We look at what tests you have had previously and recommend any others you many need, based on a review of your medical history to establish the underlying medical factors influencing your chances of success.
Nutritional and lifestyle
Nutrition plays such an important role in the success, or otherwise of IVf due to it’s impact on every cell in your body and the environment in which the fertilised egg begins to develop. We believe so strongly in this that our IVF package comes with a FREE nutritional consultation at which we review your diet and nutritional status of you both, and develop with you an easy to follow, sustainable meal-plan (not diet!) and advice, if needed, on supplements that may also help boost some of the most important nutrients that you may be lacking. Nutritional blood tests may also be recommended after this initial consultation to establish the need for certain supplementation.
Emotional/Psychological health
We may recommend referral to one of our counsellors or hypnotherapists to explore issues, if there are any, around sex, relationships or general mental health and well-being, particularly where we identify particular areas creating stress. Stress can have such a negative impact on us:
- Mentally, making it difficult to keep a positive state of mind
- Nutritionally as stress depletes many important nutrients
- Maintaining a positive and supportive relationship with each other
Our Mind/Body programme centers around stress reduction and often involves a referral for acupuncture, counselling or hypnotherapy, all of which can be used to help promote a more relaxed state of mind.
We are unique in the UK for assessing clients in this way, not just focusing on the medical aspects and we believe it is this approach that has led to our enviable success rates with IVF
